Hint - Getting Fish Past Obstructing Rocks

When you get a fish stuck I have been successful at removing them by increasing the drag and pulling up on the rod while reeling. It works about half the time, but it will be worth trying with the big ones on the line.

Hint: Landing a Salmon

First of all, do not touch the drag. Leave it at 3, and use the heaviest line available. Use a heavy rod for better leverage. Keep tension on the line by pulling left and right when the salmon runs out, and when he runs in, keep holding left or right until he gets to the edge of the blue. Now, pull up to adjust the tension. On fast runs, you'll just have to hope the salmon changes direction. To land the salmon in the boat, pull toward the side or rear part of the boat (don't pull up). You can't tire the fish out, so you'll lose a lot before perfecting the technique.
